Chicago the Musical is one of the most successful Broadway productions ever. The famous jazz performance began its victorious procession in 1975 - it was then that the premiere of the musical "Chicago" on Broadway took place. Since then, the production has changed hundreds of artists, traveled around Europe and America with a tour, received several significant awards and even acquired a “Russian face”. Well, you can not mention the film adaptation of this unusually successful work at all, because who has not heard about the triumphant release of the 2002 film, which was also called "Chicago"! The musical, reviews of which are mostly flattering, won the Golden Globe Award and six Oscar awards. However, let's start from the very beginning, namely, how such a successful and beloved by many work appeared.
Chicago Story
A musical whose reviews will make you watch it might not have been born if a series of … crimes had not occurred. In March 1924 inIn the city of Chicago, a variety show artist shot her boyfriend. Chicago Tribune journalist Maureen Watkins wrote an article about this. The criminal claimed that she was mortally drunk, so she does not remember how she committed the murder. Already in April of the same year, Watkins released another material about a married woman who shot her lover to jazz accompaniment.
These and other love-crime stories influenced the journalist, and she wrote the play "Chicago" in 1926. The musical, reviews of which confirm its success, appeared a little later, but immediately aroused interest from directors and producers. From the very first day, the jazz production fell in love with the audience, after 898 performances on Broadway and 590 in the West End, the show was closed. However, in 1996, through the efforts of Bobby W alter and Ann Rinking, Chicago was revived with updated choreography, sets and costumes.
A story of love, murder and fame
Probably everyone at least roughly knows what it's about in "Chicago". Reviewed for its dynamism, tension, and farcical overtones, the musical tells how in Chicago in the 1920s, unknown people became popular, and famous people spiced up their fame through scandals. Roxie Hart dreams of becoming a singer along with the famous Velma Kelly. And she succeeds only … after she found herself behind bars. The girl who killed her lover instantly finds herself in the center of attention of all the newspapers, and little by little Velma is forgotten. This is where the insidious artist takes revenge.
Thisthe story has been called a narrative of "murder, greed, venality, violence, exploitation, adultery and betrayal". Well, if you haven't seen the musical Chicago yet, now is the time to do so.
Chicago and Russia
The musical "Chicago" was staged not only in America. In 2003, the premiere of the production took place, produced by Philip Kirkorov and Alla Pugacheva. Despite the noisy advertising campaign and the "star" artists involved in the musical, "Chicago" did not justify the hopes placed on it and the money spent: the production did not last even a year on stage. However, ten years later, you can again see the musical "Chicago" in Moscow. The actors of the updated production say that this time the musical should be more successful, because the Russian people are already ready for this kind of spectacle. Since October 2013, the Russian version of "Chicago" has been successfully staged at the Moscow Palace of Youth.

Clownery is an art that many devote themselves to without a trace
Clownery originated in the distant Middle Ages, when traveling circuses needed to fill the gap between numbers. For this purpose, clowns, funny jesters were used, who cheered up the audience with their jokes, as well as acrobatic, juggling and other tricks. Now clowning is a full-fledged offshoot in the circus genre. Often clowns perform on the stage with separate numbers
