The actors of "Purgatory" performed a difficult task in 1997, recreating on the screen the tragic events of the storming of Grozny, which took place in the winter of 1994-1995. It was the very beginning of the First Chechen War. The film was directed by Alexander Nevzorov and Mikhail Yermolov, it is made in a naturalistic manner, it contains many violent scenes of violence. Virtually all of the screen time is taken up by combat, filmed in pseudo-documentary style.

Viktor Stepanov

In "Purgatory" actor Viktor Stepanov plays one of the main roles. He is a colonel in the guard, head of the headquarters of the 131st separate motorized rifle brigade.

Stepanov has the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR, which he was awarded in 1987. He made his film debut back in 1978 in Vadim Gauzner's film The Comedy of Errors.

In total, he has several dozen roles, including the historical and biographical drama "Mikhailo Lomonosov" by Alexander Proshkin, the comedy "The Last Boiled Case" by Vitaly Melnikov, the historical and biographical drama "Ermak" by Vladimir Krasnopolsky and Valery Usov, a feature film Vitaly Melnikov "Tsarevich Alexei".

Dmitriev Nagiyev and Sergey Rost

Among the actors of the film "Purgatory" was a couple of artists, better known for their joint comedy work. In this picture, they appear in unusual roles for themselves.

Sergey Titivin, known by his pseudonym Rost, plays Bogdan Klets, the gunner of the only surviving Russian T-80 tank. Many critics and viewers noted that in "Purgatory" the actors in the roles they perform look as organic as possible.

Sergey Rost is a native of Leningrad. He was born in 1965. Interestingly, his parents named him after Yesenin. He began to collaborate with Dmitry Nagiyev on Radio Modern. The comedy program Caution, Modern!, which began airing in 1996, brought them great popularity. From 2001 to 2004 he was one of the main actors of the project "Beware of Modern 2!".

It all ended in scandal. The duet broke up. According to one version, Nagiyev did not want to increase Growth's salary, and according to another, he offered to remain only a screenwriter, to which he did not agree.

Nagiev is another native of Leningrad. He was born in 1967. Graduate of the State Institute of Music, Theater and Cinematography. He began his musical career at Radio Modern.
