The future writer was born in 1937 in the small town of Yegorievsk, which is located in the Moscow region. His parents were educated people, had an engineering education. Until 1944, the family lived in the Urals.

A big role in Edward's passion for reading was played by his stepfather Nikolai Stepanovich Pronsky, who had a huge library, carefully kept books and forbade exchanging them for food.

The first experiments in versification date back to the time when the young Uspensky was in the ninth grade. At that time, writing was a fashionable hobby. Poetic works of Uspenskywere published in literary newspapers and sounded from radios. A major role in the development of Uspensky as a writer of children's books was played by the experience of working in camps as a pioneer leader.

Becoming a student at the Moscow Aviation Institute, Eduard Uspensky continued to engage in literary activities. After graduating from a higher educational institution in 1961, he went to work at a factory in his speci alty. Together with G. Gorin, A. Arkanov and F. Eduard Uspensky was married three times. From his first marriage, he has a daughter, Tatiana, from his second brother, daughters Irina and Svetlana. The third marriage with Eleonora Filin broke up in 2011, the couple had no children.

1965 was marked by the release of a collection of poems by Eduard Uspensky "Everything is in order", which immediately received recognition from readers. However, Ouspensky's most famous works are books for a children's audience. Crocodile Gena and Cheburashka, Uncle Fyodor, Matroskin and Sharik, postman Pechkin - there is hardly a child who does not know thesecharacters. It was thanks to Ouspensky that the children's animated series "Fixies" was born, which is so loved by modern young viewers. It is based on Uspensky's story "Guaranteed little men", which was born in 1974.

Cheburashka is one of the most famous characters created by this author. Together with his friends - Gena the crocodile, Galya the doll, Dima the loser, Marusya the excellent student - he opened the House of Friendship. For many years, Uspensky's works about a boy named Uncle Fyodor and his animal friends: a cat named Matroskin and a dog named Sharik have enjoyed great success among readers. The first story from this cycle was published in 1974. There are seven books in total. Ouspensky's fairy tales were so popular that they became the basis for animated films. Between 1975 and 2011, five cartoons aboutadventures of the smart boy Uncle Fyodor and his talking animal friends.
