People love the artist dearly and widely quote his reprises.

He created vivid images in cinema: Shvonder ("Heart of a Dog"), Poplavsky ("Master and Margarita"), Solomon ("Promised Heaven"). Of course you recognized him. This is the People's Artist of the Russian Federation, actor of the Theater of Miniatures - Roman Kartsev.

Artist with a capital letter

He was born on 1939-20-05 in Odessa. All the work of Kartsev (now he lives and works in Moscow) can be interpreted as a declaration of love to his childhood city. In his inner world, a special place is occupied by the reflection of what he saw on the seaside streets, the cheerful irony of what he himself and his friends experienced. The secret of the success of the artist's work lies in the depth of understanding of people, in humanity. It seems that the whole world around us is reflected in it in a special funny and ironic way. He was given a special gift: to speak with the viewer confidentially, so that everything said was recognizable by people. That's why eyes light uphis listeners, they become warm and joyful, and their lips stretch into smiles.

Roman Kartsev is in demand as an artist. Being an incorrigible optimist, Roman Andreevich even now, in a young way, radiates positive on the viewer, even at his 76 years old. He has his own unique charisma. His creative evenings are always sold out.

The actor's parents

Kartsev started calling him later. Such a stage name was taken by Roman Katz - an Odessa guy who dreams of the stage. His family spoke Yiddish. My maternal grandfather served as a synagogue cantor (singer). During the Nazi occupation, Roman's family suffered a heavy loss: all grandparents died.

Fortunately, the parents survived. The father of the future artist Anshel Zelmanovich Katz before the war played as a striker of the Tiraspol football team. From him, Roman Kartsev took over his love for football. Perhaps in the war he was saved by good physical preparation. Fate took care of him. He was lucky to escape from the Nazi concentration camps of death. He was able to return home only in 1946. After the victory over Nazi Germany, he was sent to war in Manchuria. Father further worked as a coach.

Full name Roman's mother is Fuchsman Sura-Leya Ruvinovna. She worked as a quality control inspector at a shoe factory, and was a party organizer. During the war, Roman Kartsev and his brother stayed in Omsk with their mother. They, who returned to Odessa, were in for a blow: the family's housing was occupied. Hosted by relatives. It was cramped and hungry. Family life returned to normal when the father returned.

Becoming an artist

Having graduated from school,Roman worked as a worker in a garment factory. His hobby was the drama circle at the club of sailors. The amateur actor was noticed and in 1960 he was admitted to the theater "Parnas-2", where he performed under the pseudonym that is now on everyone's lips. In the theater he meets his stage partner Viktor Ilchenko. Two years later, talented like-minded people left Odessa to Arkady Raikin at the Theater of Miniatures.

Arkady Isaakovich had a lot to learn! Their fellow countryman, a talented author of miniatures, Mikhail Zhvanetsky, worked in his team. Participation in the All-Union Competition of Variety Artists in 1969 became evidence of the increased artistic level of the creative tandem Kartsev-Ilchenko. They wanted to grow further. However, Arkady Isaakovich preferred to keep young talents in check, he was an authoritarian administrator.

In 1970, having escaped from under the wing of the master to his native Odessa, Mikhail Zhvanetsky, Viktor Ilchenko and Roman Kartsev organized their miniature theater.

The biography of a man who in the past bore the name of Roma Katz has changed dramatically. Young like-minded people, of course, had many difficulties. In a sense, it was easier behind the back of Arkady Isaakovich, who easily solved all the social issues of his assistants. But now Roman Kartsev built his own destiny.

Looking ahead, let's say that a decade later, creative Odessans who have achieved recognition will return to Moscow and will again perform on the stage of the country's main Theater of Miniatures.

Decent filmography

Kartsev, dreaming of cinema, seriously worked on his acting skills. Evidence of this is the end in 1972 of the acting department of GITIS. And the world of cinema accepted it! His filmography began with the tape "A Hard Day - Monday" and includes films loved by the people: "The Magical Voice of Gelsomino", "The Binduzhnik and the King", "Heart of a Dog", "Old Horses", "Prediction", "Promised Heaven". He played worthily with the best artists: Valentin Gaft, Leah Akhidzhakova, Oleg Basilashvili.

Roman Andreevich's decency

Later he himself will evaluate his development. He is immensely grateful to the initiative of his partner (unfortunately deceased) Viktor Ilchenko. It was his idea to go to Raikin. Kartsev bows before Arkady Isaakovich, who for seven years brought up real artists from two Odessa amateur actors. And, of course, he adequately appreciates the role of his friend, the tireless generator of creative ideas and magnificent texts - Mikhail Zhvanetsky. Roman Kartsev tends to never forget about the people who helped him at various stages of his life.

He is a good family man. His rear is now represented by his wife Victoria Pavlovna Kassinskaya, daughter Elena Kassinskaya, son Pavel Kassinsky. There are grandchildren: Leonid and Nika (Elena's children).

Instead of a conclusion

As before, Roman Kartsev lives by creativity. It is no coincidence that the photo captured him at the desk. Indeed, in addition to acting, the recognized master of miniatures and characteristic episodic roles is nowalso successfully writes books. The first author's novel "Small, Dry and Writer" was expectedly autobiographical. (it's easy to guess who the title is talking about). The second novel, “I Dreamed of Chaplin,” introduces us to the inner world of Roman Andreyevich himself.

It must be admitted that both books are successful. Perhaps because of the author's ability to achieve success in his work. He himself explained that he perceives himself, rather, not as a writer, but as an actor improvising on paper. And connoisseurs of his talent know that it is not easy to beat Kartsev in improvisation.
