Terry Balsamo is an American musician, guitarist of the group "Evanescence", the author of several songs of this group. Known as a former member of the group "Limp Bizkit". Balsamo is an electrician by education.
Terrence Patrick David Balsamo (better known as Terry Balsamo) was born on October 9, 1973 in the southern United States, in Florida. From about the age of thirteen, he began to take an interest in music and learn to play the guitar. By the age of sixteen, he had already mastered this instrument to perfection. At this age, Terry was quite famous among the youth of his town, because he played the guitar very well.
Balsamo tried himself in several teen bands. They performed at school playgrounds, performing popular rock hits of the time. They were invited to play at various parties, graduation balls. So the guitarist got his first experience of performing in front of an audience.
Career start
In 1994 he was invited to the team "Limp Bizkit". However, the young man could not fully open up there and left after about a year. As the musician himself recalled, the group was just starting itsactivities and worked on her first studio album. Before fame was still very far away. From 1996 to 1999 he played in the group "Shaft", being a permanent guitarist there. In the ninety-ninth year, he joined the group "Cold". He stayed in this team for several years and left his mark on her work, writing music and lyrics for songs.
Gradually the group began to disintegrate and lose its popularity. In 2003, "Cold" performed as the opening act for the band "Evanescence". And already in January 2004, he was officially invited to join "Evanescence" and take the place of a permanent guitarist.
Stroke
At the end of the next year, while recording another album, the guitarist had a stroke. This happened due to a rupture of the cervical artery. He himself recalls that he went to bed on Sunday without experiencing he alth problems. And already on Monday morning he was ready to go to the studio and continue working, but suddenly his body was paralyzed.
Terry had to spend some time in the hospital. The left side of his body was paralyzed. As it turned out, the stroke was due to the fact that Terry Balsamo constantly shook his head at concerts, like many other musicians. His hand was paralyzed, and the doctors were convinced that this was the end of his musical career. Even if the body can recover, the guitarist will not be able to move his arm. According to them, the situation wasirreversible.
Recovery
However, Terry Balsamo did not want to put up with this situation. He worked hard on himself for a year and was observed by physiotherapists. The doctors were shocked, the musician's willpower helped him to almost fully recover and immediately go on tour with his band. Unfortunately, now his arm can't function as it used to, but the members of the Evanescence collective are happy that he was able to recover and return to the group.
The band was not looking for a new guitarist and supported Terry in every possible way. The group was lucky that before the stroke, Balsamo managed to record almost all the guitar parts for the new album. What remained was completed by the band with the help of a temporary guest musician.
Leaving the group
All subsequent years, Terry Balsamo continued to record albums and tour with the band. But the previous stroke made itself felt. The guitarist often complained of pain and numbness in his left hand. And so, in August 2015, he announced that he was leaving the team. Regarding his future career, the musician does not particularly spread.
