Today, cinema has reached such heights that it is already difficult to imagine what else can surprise the modern viewer. There were also non-standard methods of shooting, and extremely original casts, and interspersed with animation. All this no longer causes the same enthusiasm as it would have been literally 10 years ago, not to mention earlier periods in the history of cinema.
However, fortunately, there will always be directors with a few aces in their pockets. This list includes, for example, David Fincher, Quentin Tarantino or Christopher Nolan. The relatively young, but incredibly talented Wes Anderson, who has an extremely original view of the world, also fits in.
Who? Where? When?
First of all, it should be noted that the name that the viewer sees in the credits and is familiar to any connoisseur of independent cinema is a creative pseudonym used by the author almost from the beginning of his career. The real name of the creator of such tapes as "Kingdom of the Full Moon", "Fantastic Mr. Fox" or, for example,"The Tenenbaums" - Wesley Mortimer Wales Anderson.
The director was born on May 1, 1969 in Houston in the family of an archaeologist and the owner of an advertising company. In fact, it was from her parents that the future star of non-standard cinema inherited a special view of the world and some perfectionism regarding the design of the picture.
Start of the legend
Wes Anderson spent his childhood years in the company of two brothers - Eric and Mel, with whom he became especially close after the divorce of his parents. This event was a real shock for the eight-year-old Wesley. The divorce hit the boy so much that this situation served as the basis for the script for The Tennenbaums, for which the director was later awarded an Oscar nomination.
Directorial debut
In fact, Wes Anderson has gravitated toward visual aesthetics since childhood. He was extremely excited by the moments of beauty that he encountered in life, so the future director took up the camera at a fairly early age.
The first masterpiece to see the light of day was a short film called "Bottle Rocket", released in 1996. The work was evaluated very positively by critics, and it was even called a breakthrough in the field of cinema, but it did not collect large sums at the box office. Whether the audience of the mid-nineties was not ready for such art, or insufficient funds were invested in the advertising campaign - now it's hard to say for sure.
Still trying to film Wes's masterpieceAnderson did not leave, and already in 1998 the world saw the Rushmore Academy.
Comedy everyone liked
One of the main roles in this picture went to Bill Murray, who was loved by everyone during this period of time, so successfully lit up in "Ghostbusters" and "Groundhog Day". It was then that the director Anderson Wes finally formed as a creative person, acquiring his own recognizable style from that moment on. "Rushmore Academy" became a landmark in another aspect: it was this picture that forever connected Bill Murray and the American creator of very strange, very special stories.
This time the tape was a resounding success with both critics and the audience, and the name of the director sounded in full force.
Style
Wes Anderson, whose films few people have seen, is famous not only for original scripts. To an even greater extent, he is recognizable by his very special manner of building a frame, filling it with color and sound. Every second is thought out by the director to the smallest detail, from the movement of the protagonist to the geometric pattern on his T-shirt, successfully combined with the surrounding stage environment.
If you see whimsical colors in the frame, a huge amount of symbolic detail, cute details that only seem insignificant, you can be sure that this is Wes Anderson. His films are concretized to an acceptable limit, and every particle of the interior says something special about the character.hero, his mood and view of the world.
Creative legacy at the moment
As already mentioned, this American director started shooting not so long ago, and therefore there are not too many works in his arsenal yet, but this is exactly the case when not quantity, but quality is important. Every frame, every note of the musical accompaniment, every nuance in the position of the camera during the shooting - all this was personally controlled by Wes Anderson. His filmography includes only 15 directorial works. The incredibly touching, soul-inspiring film Moonlight Kingdom, the whimsical animated film Fantastic Mr. Fox, the director's latest masterpiece, The Grand Budapest Hotel, have all easily won huge fans around the globe. Absolutely all works can be called the real brainchild of a talented director. Anderson calls them all personal from the first to the last second.
A little something interesting
So, who is he - Wes Anderson, whose filmography literally screams about the author's obsession with symmetry and harmony in everything and everything? Very little is known about his personal life, however, based on some facts, the impression of this representative of modern cinema is very peculiar.
For example, Wes Anderson, whose biography is mostly obscure, almost always appears in public in a good old velvet suit. This sweet, cozy habit, an addiction to the simple elegance of the past, is clearly seen in the director's characters.
Things, totalonce won the trust of this person, remain with him forever. This is exactly what happened with the famous Futura typeface, which Anderson always uses in the credits. The same can be said about the actors who wander in the works of this director from one film to another.
This man is literally full of surprises. For example, few people know that he studied philosophy at the University of Texas. Who knows - perhaps it was then that his peculiar view of the world was formed, which is regularly reflected in the paintings.
Wes Anderson loves eccentrics, frankly admires them, patronizes them in his tapes, rewarding crazy deeds with incredible endings and special beauty of the frame. This is a director who is simply impossible to confuse with anyone. This is a three-time Oscar-nominated writer who is hard-pressed to compete in today's cinema.
