Then comes a description of the main character's anxieties and worries about the final exams, the ball and the future life outside the institute. Moreover, the wound after the death of her best friend is still fresh.

Lyudmila graduates with a gold medal, loses her mother and brother, the only native people in whom one could find support.

The whole action ends with a description of the new period: she begins to work as a governess in a rich Georgian family, with a prince, a relative of her friend Nina. Here she finds herself, her destiny and family: she becomes a mentor and friend of her late friend's second cousin.

The book is very touching and sad. It penetrates the very soul, makes you think.
