Youth Theater in St. Petersburg is one of the oldest children's theaters in Russia. He has a very rich and varied repertoire. There are performances for kids, and for teenagers, and for adults, and classical plays, and modern, and good old works in a new way.

History

Youth theater in St. Petersburg opened in 1922. It was founded by Alexander Alexandrovich Bryantsev. The theater bears his name today. Alexander Alexandrovich led the Youth Theater for four decades. A. Bryantsev created a theater that would be interesting for young children, teenagers and youth. This principle continues to this day.

The first performance of the theater was P. P. Ershov's fairy tale "The Little Humpbacked Horse". She is in the repertoire to this day. This performance is the hallmark of the Youth Theatre. For many years, the emblem of the theater was the Little Humpbacked Horse.

Even in the difficult war years, the theater continued to delight the audience, although many artists went to fight or performed at the front lines as part of front-line brigades. In 1942, the Youth Theater was evacuated to the city of Berezniki, which did not have its own troupe. Petersburgthe theater delighted local residents with its performances.

The theater returned to Leningrad in the summer of 1944.

In the 40s-50s. the repertoire included not only fairy tales and classical works, but also time-appropriate productions on military topics.

The theater moved to the building on Pioneer Square in 1962.

The Youth Theater troupe was famous all over the country. Many famous artists started their career here: B. A. Freindlikh, V. P. Politseymako, N. K. Cherkasov, G. G. Taratorkin, O. V. Volkova, N. I. Drobysheva, B. P. Chirkov and many more.

The name of A. A. Bryantsev was awarded to the Youth Theater in 1980.

The artistic director of the theater since 2007 is A. Ya. Shapiro.

The theater stage is big. It is equipped with modern lighting equipment. The turntable and ring can rotate at a speed of 1 meter per second. Rainbow

Youth Theater in St. Petersburg isorganizer of various projects, including several festivals. One of them is called "Rainbow". It is held every year. In 2016, it will be held in the second half of May - from the 18th to the 24th. This festival was first held in 2000. Here you can see the best performances in the world. "Rainbow" gathers participants from many countries: France, USA, Germany, Greece, Belgium, Great Britain, etc. World-famous directors take part in the festival: Dmitry Krymov, Andrey Moguchiy, Lev Erenburg, Kama Ginkas, Nikolai Kolyada, Nina Chusova and many others. Nothing to take away from them. The theater hall is comfortable, you can clearly see and hear everything that happens on the stage from almost anywhere. The location of the Youth Theater is also successful, according to the audience: it is surrounded by a large garden. Also pleased with the fact that there are no problems with the return of tickets. You can always resolve this issue, if suddenly the audience could not go to the performance for some reason. The main thing is to contact the cashier with this issue in advance, and it will definitely be resolved. The appearance of the building from the outside, when viewed closely, leaves much to be desired. It needs a good facelift. Although the room is very beautiful, interesting for its architecture both inside and outside.
