Horror films, which can be tentatively labeled as a "tourist trap", can already be singled out as a separate subgenre of horror. Moreover, their structure is almost identical - naive and curious backpackers climb into a real wilderness, where mobile phones do not pick up a signal, and there they alternately die at the hands of a maniac, cannibal, Bigfoot or another mutant. Among such films there are recognized film masterpieces, imbued with psychologism and tragedy, there are also annoying failed works. Nevertheless, this direction, for all its pretty stamping, does not lose popularity, the most famous paintings among the described cinematography are: “Paradise Lake”, “Ruins”, “Border”, “Turistas”, “Hostel”, “Wrong Turn”, "The Hills Have Eyes", "Straw Dogs" and the film "Forbidden Zone".

Chernobyl is no longer an ordinary settlement. This is a place of a terrible tragedy, which has become sacred, in some ways even mystical, at the same time as if fraught with a threat and protecting from something terrible, fraught with a threat. It is not surprising that filmmakers from different countries actively exploit the image of Chernobyl in their works. It would be real blasphemy not to use such fertile material. Far more agile than the others was Oren Peli, the eminent creator of the Paranormal Activity franchise. Thanks to him, the horror film The Forbidden Zone appeared in 2012 (actors: D. Sadovsky, D. Kelly, N. Phillips, D. McCartney, I. Berdal).

Cheap but creepy

After the low-budget but rather impressive Paranormal Activity, audiences have been eagerly awaiting Oren Peli's next angry revelation. And they got a cheap horror film produced by him about the misadventure of American tourists attacked in Pripyat by humanoid mutants. Due to flat, inexpressive characters, hacky special effects, the work of director Bradley Parker was rated rather cool by both the audience and critics.

Storyline

The plot of the film "Forbidden Zone" (whose actors are the same age as their characters) begins with the fact that six American tourists (Natalie, Chris, Paul, Amanda, Michael and Zoe) come to Ukraine. Having learned about the excursions organized in the Exclusion Zone, they immediately hire a guide, the ex-military Yuri, and set off towards extreme entertainment. During the day, they fail to fully experience the atmosphere of a radioactive, abandoned city. But with the onset of darkness, Pripyat comes to life. Heart-rending cries shake the air, the youth is seized by a real panic. They are not alone in this dead place.

Actor casting

Film critics and ordinary people found a lot of clichés and shortcomings in the film "Forbidden Zone", the actors who played the role of unfortunate tourists, among them. However, their distinctive features and appearance are of no particular importance, since in most of the timekeeping the viewer sees the characters in the twilight. Many of the characters are superficially developed. This is enough for the viewer to feel the depth of the film, but not the depth of feelings, emotions and experiences experienced by the characters. All the main characters are stereotyped and stereotyped. For some this is annoying, but for most it is quite assimilated. Closer to the climax of the picture come across fragments with exemplary acting. This is the impression of film critics after watching the movie "Forbidden Zone".

The actors who played the main roles do not comment on the critics' assessment. An exception is the character of Nathan Phillips - Mike. Oddly enough, but there were the least complaints from specialists against him, this is undoubtedly the merit of the young actor. In cinema, Australian actor Nathan Phillips made his debut in the television series Neighbours, and the film Wolf Pit brought him fame. After participating in this project, the actor began his Hollywood career. Among the film credits in the United States are roles in such films as "Snake Flight", "Under the Hood", "Great Day", "West", "Surfer", "Thirstspeed”, “Balibo”.

The American actress has played over 10 movie roles. But the most significant film work at the moment is the Forbidden Zone. A year before participating in the work of Bradley Parker, the girl played one of the central roles in the TV series The Rule of Law, which was soon closed because it did not gain the required rating. Devin Kelly, after appearing on the big screen, accepted an invitation from the creators of the television series Covert Ops and Resurrection. Playing the role of the main female character Amanda, a girl who managed to survive in a collision with monsters and was destined to die at the hands of the special forces (No Reflection), the actress received the necessary impetus in the development of her film career.

All fans of films about deserted cities and destroyed houses, as well as those who are specifically interested in the theme of the Chernobyl disaster, will at least be curious to watch a movie at least once and get acquainted with another film legend about the Exclusion Zone according to the creators of the picture " Restricted area".
