The director of the drama "Teacher" was Alexei Petrukhin. Petrukhin is better known as the producer of the horror film "Viy", which in 2014 took first place in the box office in Russia. In the same picture, Petrukhin played a supporting role - Khoma Brutus. Before "The Teacher" as a director, Alexei shot only one tape - "To be or not to be."
For the filming of his social drama, Petrukhin chose school No. 7 in Korolev. By the way, one of the leading actors in the film, Andrey Merzlikin, studied at the same school.
In the drama "The Teacher" actors were invited quite different: young talents to play the roles of students, little-known actors and quite popular people like Irina Kupchenko, Andrey Merzlikin and Alisa Grebenshchikova.
The plot of the film resembles a psychological thriller in terms of emotionality and intensity of development. Alla Nikolaevna is a history teacher, she teaches at a regular school. But from lesson to lesson, she is faced with an unpleasant situation: the students absolutely do not listen to her, and even allow themselves to mock the already unfortunate "teacher". Driven to the extreme, Irina Kupchenko's character brings weapons to the school and takes the 11th grade hostage, not even knowing how it will turn out for her.

Irina Kupchenko is a recognized star of Soviet cinema. She made her first film appearance in 1969, immediately landing the lead role, which is not often the case with actors.
Irina was a little shy by nature, therefore, despite her dreams about the theater, for a long time she did not dare to choose this particular profession. For a whole year after school, the girl studied at the department of foreign languages in Kyiv, and only in the 66th she became a student at the Shchukin School.
The actress's filmography includes such popular films as "The Nest of Nobles", "Uncle Vanya", "Star of Captivating Happiness", "Ordinary Miracle", "Siberiade" and many others. Kupchenko's partners on the set were Oleg Yankovsky, Nikita Mikhalkov, Innokenty Smoktunovsky, Sergei Bondarchuk, Vladimir Konkin, Andrei Mironov and many other famous actors.
Alexei Petrukhin carefully selected the actors for the film "The Teacher". It’s hard to imagine who else could cope with the role of a “brought to the handle” teacherstories as good as Kupchenko. Irina was never afraid to look funny, ridiculous in the frame. She did not hesitate to play "old maids" and "blue stockings" in some films, although she naturally has a rather attractive appearance. So this time the artist got a very difficult task.
For the successful embodiment of the image, Irina Kupchenko was awarded the main prize of the XXIII Russian Film Festival "Window to Europe", the prize of the VIII International Film Festival "East & West. Classics and avant-garde”, as well as the prize of the II film festival of new Russian cinema “Awakening”.

According to the plot of the film, after the heroine of Irina Kupchenko took a whole class hostage, a task force led by Colonel Kadyshev arrived at the school to negotiate. His role was played by Andrey Merzlikin.
In the film "The Teacher" the actors Kupchenko and Merzlikin, or rather, their on-screen heroes, were on opposite sides of the barricades. But purely humanly, Merzlikin's hero understands the unfortunate woman.

In the project of Alexei Petrukhin, Grebenshchikova got the role of a news correspondent named Nastya. The heroine of the actress covered the events that took place at the school where Alla Nikolaevna teaches.
