Many of his works have been repeatedly filmed and staged, which speaks of their enduring value and relevance.

First novel

All Dostoevsky's works (let's start the list with a mention of the book that made him famous in literary circles) demonstrate the versatile talent of the author. We are talking about the novel "Poor People", created in 1846. This book is interesting because it is written in the epistolary genre. The main character, Makar Devushkin, is corresponding with the girl he is in love with, but he does not dare to confess his feelings to her, because he is older. In addition, he believes that he is unworthy of her, although she reciprocates.

With the help of this form of presentation of the story, Fyodor Dostoevsky was able to convey the feelings of his heroes in great detail and authentically. "Poor people" - a novel,which was highly appreciated by the famous critic V. Belinsky.

He opened the way for the young writer to the literary world and made his name known to the general reader.

Humorous story

The author did not want to dwell on the genre of drama and tried himself in a variety of styles. He wrote not only prose, but also composed poetry. In addition, after the release of the first novel, he decided to create a comic work in the form of letters of heroes. This is how "A Novel in Nine Letters" was born - a humorous story, which was published in 1847 in the Sovremennik magazine. This work is the correspondence of two sharpers, each of which seeks to deceive a partner.

The writer imitated Gogol, choosing both similar names and endowing each with characteristic features. One of them is delicate and polite, the other, on the contrary, is rude and straightforward. However, in the end, both were deceived by their mutual acquaintances. All the works of Dostoevsky, the list of which includes not only dramatic and tragic, but also humorous works, show him as a subtle observer and an outstanding thinker.

Humiliated and Insulted

This was the first major work written by the author after returning from exile. It was published in 1861. Criticism met him very restrained, except for the Sovremennik magazine, which positively assessed the plot and characters. The narration is conducted on behalf of the first person - the young writer Ivan, in which the autobiographical features of the author himself are guessed.

Dostoevsky's novel "The Humiliated and Insulted" has two storylines, which makes the story somewhat blurry. Nevertheless, the features of the writer's style are already clearly visible in this book - a deep psychological analysis of the characters, sympathy for all the disadvantaged - a theme that runs like a red thread through all the writer's work.

This is one of the most difficult novels in the writer's work, as it reflected his addiction to the game, as well as a difficult relationship with his beloved, who served as the prototype for the main character of the novel, as well as the famous Nastasya Filippovna in the book "The Idiot". The author worked not only in the genre of large-scale prose, but also wrote small works. One of his most famous stories is the philosophical book The Double. It tells the story of a petty employee who was very awkward, indecisive, absent-minded. Once he had a double, who quickly managed to take his place thanks to dexterity, agility, cunning and meanness. The work denounces human weakness and servility, which led to the fact that society accepted a double instead of a person they knew. In this series, one can also mention the humorous story "Another's wife and husband under the bed." This work is imbued with good good humor, which is so characteristic of the writer's pen.

Separately, it should be said about his diary, in which he not only talks about his creative path, but also expresses his thoughts about the socio-political development of Russia, and also expresses his opinion on the international position of the country. The diary reveals the author from the inside, as in it he shares the secrets of his skill andtechniques, explains the thoughts and ideas that he carried out in fiction. Dostoevsky's poems demonstrate his talent not only as a writer of prose, but also as a poet. Dostoevsky's poems mainly reflect his social and political views. In the work “On the First of July 1855”, he again talks about the future of Russia, expresses hope for its revival, and also asks the tsar to forgive him and his supporters for their former opposition hobbies. The composition is dedicated to the birthday of the Empress and is distinguished by a patriotic spirit and philosophical content.

He also wrote a poem "On the coronation and the conclusion of peace", in which he glorifies the coming of peace and the coronation of the new Emperor Alexander II. Among the writer's lyrics, one can also note his epigram on a Bavarian colonel, as well as the work "The Struggle of Nihilism with Honesty". The last work is interesting because in it the author expresses his socio-political views on this new movement in Russia.
