Biography

Lavrenty Masokha was born and raised in the village of Khreschatyk, Kyiv province. His parents were very poor people: they did not even have their own land. For this reason, the boy's father was forced to move with his family to Kyiv in search of work. At first he got a job as a sailor on a steamer, and after a while he became a weigher. Lavrentiy Masokha's mother did housework and raised children.

In 1924, Lavrenty became a graduate of a labor school. A little later, he was taken to the factory as an apprentice modeller. But he was a creative boy who was always drawn to art. Therefore, the guy managed not onlyearn money and help his parents, but also enjoyed visiting the drama club. As a result, Masokha entered the Kyiv Music and Drama Institute, graduating in 1931.

Acting career

Lavrenty Masokha was remembered by viewers as a talented actor who was able to perfectly play negative roles. He played the Nazis in such films as "On Thin Ice", "Seventeen Moments of Spring", "Tankmen", etc. After graduating from a higher institution, the young man was hired as an assistant director at the Kyiv studio. At the same time, Lavrenty Masokha starred in several films at once:

  • "Karmelyuk";
  • "Italian";
  • "Youth";
  • "Komsomol".

Lavrenty's brother, Peter Masokha, also became an actor, a star of silent films. On the eve of the war, he, unfortunately, was repressed. It is possible that this is why his brother did not have the best future, and his acting career left much to be desired.

Success came to Lavrenty Masokha (photo of the actor in the article) after shooting in the film "Big Life", in which he played the role of Makar Lyagotin. And his first negative character was an anarchist in the movie "Shchors". Thanks to these creative works, Lavrenty becomes one of the most sought-after actors of that time.

Death of an artist

The talented actor died duringfilming his last movie about the adventures of Standartenführer Stirlitz. This time, Masocha was supposed to play the role of Müller's adjutant, Scholz. It turned out that Lavrenty managed to play in absolutely all episodes of this picture and died after filming. Died unexpectedly.

As his colleagues on the set recalled, the actor became ill during the performance of the role. The man spoke meaninglessly, confusing words in places. In connection with this, the director of the film was announced a short break. Unfortunately, Lavrenty did not feel better after the rest, and the shooting was suspended.

Every day Lavrenty Masokha felt worse and worse. He died at a table in a restaurant where he came with friends in 1971. The actor was buried in Moscow. Later, his ashes were transferred to Kyiv.
