In the world of heavy music, the German band Rammstein has become one of the most amazing phenomena of recent decades. And probably, today there will not be found a single person who would not have heard of her. The discography of Rammstein is very diverse, and the lyrics are often perceived quite ambiguously. Take at least the most famous hit of the group Du hast. But first things first.

Rammstein Phenomenon

Before embarking on the topic of "Rammstein: discography and reviews about it", it is worth delving into the very essence of the phenomenon of these six musicians.

Today the group has gained worldwide popularity, which can be safely compared, so to speak, with their colleagues in the shop, such mega-popular metal giants as Scorpions, Helloween, Destruction, Accept, Warlock, Sodom, etc. However, here it is note that all these groups are English-speaking, with rare exceptions. After all, at the time of their ascent to worldwide fame with German texts, it was absolutely impossible to achieve recognition. First of all, this was due to the recognition inUK and USA. Without this, there was nothing to talk about world fame.

Rammstein is another matter. The discography, whose history will be described below, consists exclusively of songs in German, which only enhances the effect of the harshness of their music. Look, even in the USA the group with their lyrics and enchanting shows was met with a bang, as they say.

Rammstein. Discography and biography: some history

Let's see how it all began, and where, in fact, the very name of the band and the tendency to such outrageous lyrics came from.

The year of foundation of the group is 1994. Then the lead guitarist of one of the German bands, Richard Kruspe, tried to combine the classic sound of hard rock with the industrial style, which was gaining momentum at that time. He became like-minded vocalist Till Lindemann, bassist Oliver Riedel, drummer Christoph Schneider, and a year after the founding - second guitarist Paul Landers and keyboardist named Christian Lorenz.

In principle, the discography of Rammstein began with this. True, here history played a cruel joke with the group. The fact is that the group was originally called Rammstein Flugschau. It was the name of the air show held in the city of Ramstein (by the way, the name is spelled with one letter "m"). But the team, either intentionally or accidentally, attributed one extra letter.

But the "surprises" didn't end there. At one of these events, a disaster occurred: 3aircraft, as a result of which about 80 people were killed and more than 300 were injured of varying severity. It is alleged that the musicians did not know about this incident, and when they found out, it was too late to change the name.

However, Rammstein's discography references these events in the form of a song of the same name from Herzeleid's debut album.

What preceded the emergence of Rammstein

As for the beginning of creative activity, the team brought together professional musicians who had previously played in various German bands, which, however, never became famous.

So, for example, Kruspe got a good school in the Orgasm Death Gimmick team, Lendeman is the ex-drummer of First Arsch, Riedel used to play in The Inchtabokatables, Schneider was a member of Die Firma, and the second guitarist Landers and keyboardist Lorenz came from Feeling B. All of these bands had a different direction in music, apparently, this influenced the creation of such an interesting mix that Rammstein became.

First steps on the big stage

The first album was met with criticism and listeners quite warmly. Of course, it was still too early to talk about the popularity that followed, however, compositions such as Du riechts so gut, Seeman, Das alte Leid, Weisses Fleisch, etc. rose high in the charts

It must be said that at the same time the young band was noticed by such a famous musician in the industrial world,as Trent Raznor (permanent frontman and leader of the Nine Inch Nails team). It was he who gave his recommendations to David Lynch, so that Rammstein recorded the soundtrack for the film Lost Highway.

The arrival of popularity

From now on, Rammstein's discography takes a new turn. Despite being the opening act for Clawfinger on their first tour, the band managed to captivate the audience with their incredible pyrotechnic shows. Very often, the vocalist at the beginning of the concert shot three flaming arrows from a bow, and the images of the band members looked clearly futuristic.

Real recognition for the group came after the release of the singles Engel and Du hast, which became almost her calling card. It happened in 1997, and then the world saw the full Sehnsucht album. After that, Rammstein performed already, collecting stadiums, with such giants as the Rolling Stones, Guano Apes and Prodigy.

The release of the album Mutter only confirmed that the team is moving along the chosen path with complete confidence. Here it is worth noting the compositions of Mutter, Ich will, Feur frei, etc. The album itself, according to Metal Hammer magazine, was included in the top ten works in the industrial style (4th place in the list). This was followed by new works by Rammstein. All the albums, the photos of which will be presented below, turned out to be very tough. And this applies not only to music, but also to many texts that were not perceived at all by critics at one time.

In general, even finding a single line in the texts is quite difficult. It is felt that the abilities of the members of the group, in particular Lindemann, in the literary field are very, very diverse.

And as for the enchanting show, which emphasizes the harshness of the music and lyrics, here the band can not refuse ingenuity. It is clear that many bands use pyrotechnics, but what is happening at Rammstein concerts cannot be compared with absolutely anything. The main preference is given to fire. He is here in all manifestations. So a legitimate question arises: "How are musicians not afraid to work with such a dangerous thing?" But that's why they and Rammstein…

However,many fans have recently been somewhat dissatisfied with the group. They explain this only by the fact that the team focused more on concert activities and completely forgot about the release of new studio albums. However, only one thing can be said here: apparently, after such a long break, something amazing can be expected. As they say, it is possible that after a lull, a real storm will follow, and Rammstein will give out something that will, to put it mildly, stun the audience. Well, it remains only to observe, time will tell what surprises to expect from such a unique group of our time.
