A long time ago, when there was no ministry or school of sorcery in the magical world, there lived four great wizards and sorceresses. In this article we will tell you about Candida Ravenclaw. The faculty that she founded at Hogwarts was intended for students who were distinguished from others by intelligence, good memory and quick wits.
Foundation of Hogwarts School
About a thousand years ago, the great sorcerers of England faced the question of systematizing their knowledge and passing it on to other generations. So they decided to found a school of witchcraft. The wizards thought for a long time about which faculties to establish at Hogwarts. And so each of the sorcerers created his own faculty, which he called by his own name. Salazar Slytherin hosted the most cunning, Godric Gryffindor the most courageous, Helga Hufflepuff the most industrious, and Candida Ravenclaw the most intelligent.
In the English version Ravenclaw is called Ravenclaw, which literally means "Crow's Claw". A well-known proverb of this faculty says: "A sharp mind beyond measure is the greatest asset of a person." Despite the title"Crow's Claw" the symbol of the faculty is an eagle. This causes confusion for many readers.
How to enter Ravenclaw's living room
It is noteworthy that with the help of a password it will not be possible to enter the living room, which is located in the Ravenclaw tower. The faculty, which was founded by the smartest sorceress, differs from others in this as well. In order to get into the tower, it was necessary to answer the question asked by the guard guarding the door. The difficulty lies in the fact that the questions changed every time. The living room had a great view of the surroundings of Hogwarts.
What is interesting about Ravenclaw?
This faculty is interesting because the most intelligent and inventive students entered it. The Dean of Ravenclaw was the half-human Professor Flitwick Filius. The faculty also had its own ghost, which the students called the Gray Lady. The faculty coat of arms depicts an eagle. It is blue and bronze in the book, but silver and blue in the film. According to an old legend, Candida Ravenclaw possessed a special magical item - the Diadem. It is he, along with the Slytherin medallion and the Deathly Hallows, that appears in the last part.
Who studied at the Faculty of Ravenclaw
A faculty that admits only the brightest is known for the following students: Ackerley Stewart, Belby Marcus, Brocklehurst Mandy, Booth Terry, Davis Roger, Ingbley Duncan, Cornen Michael, Carmichael Eddy, Lovegood Luna, Paige Grant, Svirk Orla, Stretton Jeremy, Samuel Jason, Turpin Laisa, Chang Zhou and Marietta Edgecombe.
In differentfor years the faculty members were Anthony Goldstein, Penelope Crystal, Patil Padma and Robert Hilliard.
Peneloppa Crystal is known for not only being the head girl, but also dating Percy Weasley, Ronald's brother. Ron and Harry once stumbled upon it when, in the guise of Goyle and Crab, under the influence of a revolving potion, they were looking for the Slytherin living room. Then she probably went on a date with Percy.
Penelope was quite tall, she had blonde long hair. The fact that she was dating Ron's brother did not become known until the second book, when Ginny told her friends that she saw Percy and Penelope kissing.
In the second book, Penelope fell under a numb spell cast on her by the monster of Slytherin. She also loves Quidditch. She liked Harry's broom that Sirius gave him and made a bet with Ron's brother about the result.
The further fate of Penelope is unknown. She never became Percy's wife. It is known that he married a girl named Audrey.
In the book "Harry Potter 3" the protagonist begins to meet with one of the students of Ravenclaw - Zhou Chang. She was a catcher on the faculty team. She was also a member of Dumbledore's squad. Her friend Marietta betrayed the squad by telling Dolores Umbridge herself about it. When Marietta spoke about the squad, she was cursed.
Luna Lovegood also studied in this department. She first appeared in the fifth book and has been a key character ever since. Thanks to her and her father, Harry was able to give an interview about how he was rebornThe Dark Lord. She was with Harry and his friends in the Ministry of Magic and in addition she took part in the Battle of Hogwarts. In the seventh book, Luna was kidnapped by the dark lord's supporters because her father supported Harry Potter in his articles.
The Ravenclaw team over the years included the following students: Roger Davis, Chang Zhou, Chambers and Bradley.
The most famous students of Ravenclaw
The School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is known for its famous students. No wonder it is one of the most prestigious schools! Especially many famous students were released by Kogtevran. The following characters graduated from this faculty:
- Millicent Bagnold was the Minister for Magic. After her, the plump wizard Cornelius Fudge took over as minister.
- Quirrell Quirinus was a supporter of the Dark Lord and a teacher in the first book. He wanted to help steal the Philosopher's Stone and use it to revive Voldemort. However, Harry, Ronald and Hermione prevented him from doing so.
- Lokons Zlatopust - the teacher of protection against dark magic in the second book, who lost his memory. He is distinguished by his boasting and the fact that by deceit he stole memories of exploits from other wizards and appropriated them for himself. After he took out his own memory with a faulty wand, Lokons was sent to a magical hospital for treatment.
- Trelawney Sibyl is a soothsayer who owns the prophecies about Harry and the Dark Lord. She rarely spoke real predictions. In Harry Potter 3, Ron and Harry agreethat she's just an old charlatan. In the fifth book, she was nearly kicked out of Hogwarts by Dolores Umbridge. But Dumbledore, knowing that outside the school she is in mortal danger, leaves Trelawney at school.
- Flitwick Filius - Dean of the Faculty of Cognevran. There are goblins in his family, and therefore he is distinguished by his small stature. His voice is squeaky. Flitwick is considered one of the best Spell teachers. At the distribution, the magic hat thought for about five minutes where to send Flitwick - to Gryffindor or Ravenclaw.
Candida and her daughter Elena
The faculty to which this article is dedicated is named after this sorceress. Candida Kogtevran was born presumably no later than the middle of the 10th century. She had a daughter, whose name was Elena Kogtevran (or Helena). It was she who envied her mother and stole the magic Diadem from her in order to become smarter than her. As you know, this magical item makes its owner the most intelligent person.
The Mystery of the Bloody Baron
When the great Candida Kogtevran found out about the disappearance of the Diadem, she did not tell anyone anything because the very fact of her daughter's theft made her incredibly ashamed. When she became seriously ill and felt that she would soon die, she asked the bloody Baron, in love with Elena, to find her and persuade her to say goodbye to her mother. But unfortunately, Candida Ravenclaw never saw her daughter before her death.
Elena's hopes of being smarter than her mother were not realized. Out of shame, Candida's daughter hidin Albanian forests. When the Baron found Elena and was refused, he killed her with a knife, as he had a very violent temper. When he came to himself, he was horrified by what he had done, laid hands on himself. Since then, Elena Ravenclaw has become the House Ghost of the Gray Lady, and the Baron has become a Slytherin ghost. As a sign of repentance, he often wears shackles and chains.
Elena Kogtevran and Tom Riddle
The diadem stolen by Elena remained in the Albanian forest in the hollow of one of the trees. Around the forties of the last century, there was a student who managed to charm and talk to the Gray Lady. It was Tom Riddle, who a short time later became the famous magician Voldemort. Elena told him her secret, and Tom found the Diadem after he graduated from Hogwarts.
Lord Voldemort made a Horcrux out of the Tiara. This is a special item that contains a piece of the human soul. It is for Horcruxes that Harry and his friends are hunting. The diadem of Candida Ravenclaw (the Harry Potter faculty was named after her) Voldemort hid in the So-and-so room, believing that no one but him knew about it. However, the Circlet was nevertheless found and destroyed during a fire by hellfire, which was arranged by a friend of Draco Malfoy.
