The famous children's writer was born in the industrial city of Sverdlovsk on January 23, 1964. According to the author himself, it was an ordinary city, boring, smoky from dozens of factory chimneys. She wrote her first book at the age of 4 in large block letters: "What is it for, the Earth?". And she answered that the earth was not for people to trample on, but for apple trees, peaches, melons, watermelons and many other things to grow on it, tasty, according to the girl.

The future author loved to write as a child. Of course, these were not stories, but ordinary school essays, which always turned out better than those of classmates. She also loved to read. In the beginning there were fairy tales, children's stories. And then more serious books: Pushkin, Bulgakov. By the way, the novels and stories of MikhailBulgakov remain beloved by the writer even now. But when she and her grandmother chose a profession, they settled on medicine. After school, Svetlana went to study at the Sverdlovsk State Medical Institute at the Faculty of Pediatrics. Then she worked for several years in an infectious disease hospital.

Now Svetlana Arkadyevna Lavrova is a neurophysiologist, Candidate of Medical Sciences, works at the Interterritorial Neurosurgical Center of Yekaterinburg. How did your creative career start? The author herself recalls that for the first time she took up writing a fairy tale when she and her husband were on the Kola Peninsula, where the sun did not often delight the inhabitants with its warmth and light. To dispel boredom and despondency, her husband offered to write her a fairy tale. Svetlana did a great job. True, at first she composed fairy tales for her children, Alexandra and Anastasia, writing them in a notebook in neat block letters so that the girls could read them on their own. Fairy tales soon became part oflife of the future writer. Although, as the author admits, it is not easy to combine medicine and writing.

First publications

The first book was published only 10 years later, in 1997. It was called "Journey without a camel." And in 2001, thanks to her friend Olga Kolpakova, the book "Pirate of the Table Sea" was published by the Moscow publishing house "Drofa". Now, having already become a master, the writer cooperates with several publishing houses of the country. Her work has two directions: works of popular science and fiction.

Informative literature

Most of the educational books of Svetlana Arkadyevna Lavrova, a real patriot, are dedicated to the Urals. The publishing house "Bely Gorod" published such works of the writer as "Slavic Mythology", "Across Countries and Continents", "Mysteries of Pets". In total, about 40 such books have been published. Three fairy tales collected in the book can captivate not only children, but also their fathers and mothers, grandparents. Agree, an interesting story can distract from all everyday problems, cheer up. And what else can unite children and parents more than a fairy tale read together?

Lavrova's works invite readers to a wonderful magical land, for example, sailing the Mediterranean Sea in the book "Seven Underwater Cats" (2007), or to a magical island reminiscent of Crete in the fairy tale "The Island that Is Not" (2008), or to the ancient city of Arkaim. Svetlana Lavrova invites us there together with the heroes of the book"Arkaim. Three days before the end of the world" (2011).

And this country is easy to imagine not only thanks to the light style of the author, but also beautiful illustrations. Among the artists working together with the writer are the honored painter of Belarus Valery Slauk, and the famous illustrator of fairy tales Marina Boguslavskaya, children's artist Andrei Lukyanov. Svetlana Arkadyevna also likes to draw, she created illustrations for some books herself and did it, according to the writer, with great pleasure.

The author also has detective stories created together with the writer Olga Kolpakova. These works are intended for both adults and young readers.
