The Osobnyak Theater (St. Petersburg) emerged in the 80s of the 20th century from a professional studio. His repertoire includes extraordinary performances based on modern and classical works.

About the theater

The Osobnyak Theater was founded by its permanent artistic director and leading actor Dmitry Podnozov. In the late 80s he formed a professional studio in the city of Pushkin. In 1996, the troupe moved to St. Petersburg.

The room in which the theater is located is small. The entrance to the auditorium is directly from the street. Artists enter the dressing room through the front door. The foyer is quite tiny. In 2001, A. Slyusarchuk became the chief director of the theater. He is known in the world as a director of philosophical and existential stories. He worked with the works of Joyce, Pavic, Fosse, Arrabal, Nietzsche, Ionesco. The hallmark of the "Mansion" is his performance "The King is dying" based on the play by E. Ionesco. It premiered in 2008. The production has not yet been removed from the repertoire and goes on with the same full house, being one of the most beloved by the viewer.

On its stage, the theater often hosts other chamber groups that do not have their own venue or come on tour from other cities and countries.

Directors

The Osobnyak Theater is loved by the audience for its extraordinary productions. The originality of the performances is provided by two wonderful directors - Yu. Panina and A. Slyusarchuk. Alexey Slyusarchuk is a graduate of GITIS. He worked as an actor and as a director in Pskov, in several theaters in Moscow and in Berlin, and taught. Alexey is not only a director, he is a playwright. He writes screenplays for films and plays for theaters. Many of his works have been translated into several European languages. Performances based on his plays are staged not only in Russia. His poems were published in literary almanacs. Alexei became the chief director of the Osobnyak Theater in 2001.
