History
The Theater of Satire (Moscow) was opened in the fall of 1924. His first premise was the basement of a house in Bolshoi Gnezdinsky Lane. Previously, the cabaret "The Bat" was located here. The new theater was headed by David Gutman. He had a lot of directing experience behind him. The repertoire consisted mainly of satirical reviews on the topic of the day. Episodes were followed by dances, verses and interludes.
In the 30s of the 20th century, the theater moved to another building. It is located on Sadovo-Triumfalnaya Street. At the same time, the main director changed. D. Gutman was replaced by N. Gorchakov, a student of Konstantin Sergeevich Stanislavsky. The theater repertoire has changed. It was based on vaudeville and comedies.
In the mid-40s. the academic theater of satire moved to the premises on Malaya Bronnaya.
In 1957, V. Pluchek became the chief director. His productions were a great success with the audience.
In 1963, the theater temporarily moved to the building where the Romen is located today. But sinceAs the popularity of Moscow satire grew, the auditorium needed a large one. In 1964, the theater of satire received at its disposal the building of the former equestrian circus of the Nikitin brothers. Here he "lives" to this day.
B. Pluchek gathered a wonderful troupe in the theater of satire, which included such artists as Alexander Shirvindt, Olga Aroseva, Spartak Mishulin, Tatyana Peltzer, Yuri Vasilyev, Mikhail Derzhavin, Vera Vasilyeva, Georgy Menglet, Raisa Etush, Zoya Zelinskaya and many others.
Also, many of today's famous directors made their debut here. For example, Mark Zakharov. He staged such performances as Temp-1929, Profitable Place, Mother Courage and Her Children, Banquet and many others on the stage of the satire theater. The year 1969 was significant for the premiere of The Marriage of Figaro. A. Mironov played the main role in it. This production has been the hallmark of Moscow satire for 18 years.
The year 1987 was a difficult year for the theatre. Immediately two famous and beloved by the public actor passed away. They were Andrei Mironov and Anatoly Papanov. Because of these tragic events, thirteen performances had to be excluded from the repertoire. But this did not affect the audience's love. The audience continued to go to the performances. The theater has remained beloved and popular.
