How did ordinary guys turn into one of the most famous rock bands in our country, whose songs are known and remembered to this day? How did ordinary guys achieve such popularity? The answer is simple - appearing in the right place at the right time. The songs of "Nautilus" contrasted sharply with the cloyingly censored music that existed in the USSR. The work of this group is thoroughly saturated with deep meaning and freedom, which the youth of that time lacked so much.

The beginning of the creative path

Participants of the first composition of the group met at the collection of root crops from the university where they studied, in the village of Mamino. The concept and the final composition of the group were formed in 1982. Vyacheslav Butusov became the soloist. Igor Goncharov, Dmitry Umetsky and Andrey Sadnov were responsible for drums, guitar and bass.

There was a turnover of musicians in the team - someone could not perform because of their main activity, and someone did not want problems with the district commission. Then freedom and Western influences only began to seep into the countryadvice, but the restrictive regime was still in effect. The group "Nautilus" performed in DC and at rock festivals, changing style from hard rock to new wave (a genre in rock music, the popularity of which was rapidly gaining momentum at that time).

Fame. Discography of "Nautilus Pompilius"

The group's image and style were constantly changing. Presented in October 1986 "Separation", the underground rock press called it extremely unsuccessful. At one of his speeches in the Palace of Culture. The Sverdlov group came out in a provocative image for that time - military equipment and sharp, expressive, but stingy movements, borrowed from the soloists of Kino and Alisa. The team grew creatively. The discography of "Nautilus" gradually expanded.

The main peak of the group's popularity is the end of the eighties - the middle of the nineties of the last century. The discography of "Nautilus" has 12 albums. Despite creative differences, the team released several fairly successful collections, such as "The Prince of Silence" (1989), "Apple China" (1997), "Atlantis" (1997). In this difficult and contradictory time, it was music that created a revolution, reflected the true state of affairs in the new country. The trend was set by such groups as Kino, Bi-2, Alisa and others. The themes of the songs and the discography of "Nautilus" were mostly philosophical. The topics of the war in Afghanistan, the arbitrariness of power, the outdated Sovietmodes that were more relevant than ever and resonated in the hearts of listeners.

Different roads

There were disagreements in the group from the very beginning. Everyone had their own view of what creativity should be and what to focus on. The first breakup of the already established line-up occurred in 1989 after the group's unsuccessful performances at many events in Russia and abroad, including the Third Festival of Rock Musicians of Sverdlovsk. But to everyone's surprise, in 1990 the soloist of the band assembled a new line-up called Nautilus Pompilius.

The updated composition of the team toured Russia and the world, and quite successfully. But in 1997, Butusov announced the dissolution of Nautilus, arguing that the team had exhausted itself long ago, but its members could only admit it to themselves now. But the relationship of the musicians did not end there, they regularly reunited at various concerts and festivals, performing the favorite hits of their audience. In addition, Vyacheslav Butusov began his solo career as part of the U-Piter team.
