The Koltsov Drama Theater (Voronezh) originated in the 18th century. Today, his repertoire includes classical and modern plays, children's productions.
History of the Drama Theater (Voronezh)
The Koltsov Drama Theater was born in 1787. Performances and rehearsals were held in the house of the governor V. A. Chertkov. The artists were people from high society. And in 1799, released serf actors began to appear on the stage with them. The first professional troupe appeared in 1801. But she was entreprise, not stationary. It was directed by the Moscow comedy actor Petrov.
The main task of the theater at that time was to ennoble feelings and correct morals.
In the 20s of the 19th century, famous actors of the country performed on the stage of the Voronezh drama.
In 1917 the theater became known as the "Big Soviet". It existed with that name for exactly 20 years. Since 1937 it has been called the Voronezh Drama Theatre.
During the war, the theater ceased to function as usual. Actors worked in hospitals, and also traveled as part of front-line brigades along the fronts withspeeches. In June 1942, a bomb hit the theater building, which destroyed the auditorium and the stage. In July, the troupe was evacuated to the Chelyabinsk region. The artists returned to their city in December 1944. Then the premiere of the play "Woe from Wit" took place. After the liberation of Voronezh from the Nazis, the theater building was one of the first to be restored, despite the fact that the city was destroyed by 95%.
In the war and post-war years, the repertoire included performances of relevant subjects: "Soldiers of Stalingrad", "General Brusilov", "Front", "Invasion".
A permanent troupe appeared here in the early 30s. During the war, artists worked in hospitals and front-line brigades.
The Drama Theater (Voronezh) received the name of the poet Alexei Koltsov in 1959, the year of its 150th anniversary.
Today the troupe participates in festivals, actively tours.
Building renovation
New Drama Theater (Voronezh), or rather updated, opened its doors in 2012. The reconstruction took many years. Her main task was to make the building as close as possible to the historical original. But at the same time, the interior is made more strictly than before. It now has no stucco moldings and other embellishments. Even crystal lamps have simple shapes. The interior is made in modern style.
Artists have created an interior plot called "winter theater". The colors used are white and silver. The shape of the crystal lamps resembles snowdrifts. The glass on the doors looks like frostbite. Simply put, the interior resembles a scenery fromwinter fairy tale This is an unusual and original, even unique design solution of its kind. Getting into the theater, the viewer seems to find himself in another world, which is more perfect. It inspires and purifies. This was how the temple of art was treated in the era of romanticism and in the last years of the Soviet Union. So the new building of the Voronezh Drama Theater fully complies with this postulate. The building has just such an effect. Getting here, the viewer disconnects from reality, forgets his problems, plunges into another space and time. There is only him and beautiful art.
The author of the design of the building was the artist Yuri Kuper. He is a unique individual. He is a genius. And he couldn't create a non-unique theatre.
