"Xero" (Xero)

The team with this name was assembled by two boys from the same class: Mike Shinoda and Brad Delson, who are now members of the Linkin Park group. There were six people in the group in total. After the first failures related to the search for labels that would want to sign a contract with a little-known band, the soloist and one of the musicians left Xero and went to other projects.

After a long search for a new vocalist found in Arizona. His name was Chester Bennington. After meeting in absentia on the phone, and listening to demos with the voice of a potential soloist, the group invited Chester to join them. This is how a collective called Hybrid Theory arose.

Under this name, the group did not last long, as the electronicthere was already a group with a similar name, and wanted to sue for "plagiarism". At the same time, Chester suggested calling the band Linkin Park.

The album called Hybrid Theory was released in 1999. Apparently, the guys did not forget how they were almost sued for using this phrase in the band's name, so they decided to "recoup" with the help of the album. The young team was waiting for a real triumph.

This album has sold thirty million copies and sold out. The song Crawling won a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance. The video, which was filmed for the song In the End, was broadcast on MTV and received an award as the "Best Video Clip of the Year". Meteora

This is the name given to the band's second album, released in 2003. The composition of the Linkin Park group has not undergone any changes - in fact, until the death of lead singer Chester Bennington, the composition will remain stable.

This album has become one of the most successful in the history of the group. Popular chartModern Rock Tracks called this album the best in the history of alternative rock. The song Numb from this album became the most popular in the United States and topped the chart, becoming the song of the year. The album's sales were also strong, with about six million sold in the US and over twenty million in the rest of the world. The instrumental track Session was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance. This album was the last to be released in the nu metal genre.

After Chester turned eleven, his parents separated. The boy stayed with his father, with whom the relationship was very bad. Heavy memories of childhood tormented the soloist for the rest of his life: bad company, first drugs, alcohol and bad sexual experience, humiliation, and sometimes real bullying from peers who were bigger and stronger…

Perhaps the only outlet at that time was music and drawing. A little later, at the end of school, Chester will work as a waiter. He will remember this period of his life like this: "Only work and music forced me to get up in the morning - I didn’t want to do anything, I was so tired of everyone."

In 1993, he began singing in the very popular Phoenix hometown band Gray Daze, but there Chester did nothappened. In the late nineties, having quarreled with the band's musicians, he left in search of a new project.

Appearing in the group, which was originally called XERO, it was Chester who proposed to rename it to Linkin Park. A new band with a new vocalist and new songs just soared to the top of the charts around the world.

Chester Bennington, with his trademark vocals, has become the face of the new band. Combining various styles of rock music, electro and hip-hop in their work, the group became very popular. Bennington himself was involved in one or two more projects that did not become popular and did not have much success both with critics and with ordinary listeners.

In 1996, he married a girl named Samantha Olit. The young did not even have money for wedding rings, so they got tattoos on their ring fingers. A few years later, in 2002, they had a son, who was named Draven. But even the birth of a son could not save the family - the couple broke up when the name of Chester became a cult for millions of rock lovers. Drugs, alcohol, big money - all this broke the relationship.

Almost immediately after the divorce, the lead singer of Linkin Park married Playboy fashion model Talinda Bentley. The girl bore him three children, the couple adopted two more.

Album Minutes to Midnight

This album was released in 2007 and immediately received a lot of feedback - from positive to sharply negative. The group moved away from the style in which they played before. Newthe album was very different from the two previous ones, and this is what the musicians were often reproached for. The band themselves have stated that this style is what they would like to play.

In September 2008, the group became the winner of the MTV channel in the nomination "Best Rock Clip". In the same year, a disc was released with a high-quality recording of one of the concerts of the tour, which the group undertook after the release of the album.

Songs from this album were featured in the films "Twilight" and "Transformers".

Further musical activity of the group

After the release of the album Minutes to Midnight, the band releases new albums or singles almost every year. As the participants themselves said, while they were preparing to record the album, about one hundred and fifty songs were written. Of all this volume, nineteen were initially selected, and then twelve, which were included in the album. The musicians were now working on the rest of the material.

So many directors wanted Linkin Park's music to sound in their films. The sound of all parts of "Transformers" was written by LP. The musicians themselves starred in films such as Saw, Adrenaline (and in two parts) and Artifact.

Style

Very successful mixture of Chester's unusual vocals and Mike Shinoda's recitative, hard rock and lyrical music - all this makes the group original, unlike others.

The death of Chester Bennington and the band's future plans

July 20, 2017 the whole world was shocked by the news that the leader of the legendary rock band Chester Bennington committed suicide. He hanged himself at his home hours before the group's photo shoot was scheduled. For everyone, this was a real shock - the group was at the peak of popularity, new songs were written, concerts were planned, but, apparently, the soloist could not overcome everything that had tormented him since childhood - fears, complexes, which were expressed through addiction to alcohol and drugs. An empty whiskey bottle was found in the musician's room.

Another fact: the singer hanged himself on the birthday of his very close friend Chris Cornell. A few months earlier, the second also committed suicide.

The group's emails received hundreds andthousands of condolences on the death of Chester. Many musicians, critics and ordinary listeners mourned the loss. Together with Chester, a whole milestone in the history of not only Linkin Park specifically, but also world rock music has gone.

The line-up of Linkin Park has not changed at the moment, with the exception of the deceased soloist. Now the musicians are preparing for memory concerts.
