Before you figure out where the Gryffindor common room is, you need to understand what it is and what Gryffindor itself is. And for this you need at least for a few minutes to plunge into the magical world that the English writer JK Rowling came up with, populating it not only with good and evil sorcerers, but also with unicorns, trolls, house elves, centaurs…
Introducing magic
Today, there are few people left who at least once have not heard the names of Hogwarts, Gryffindor or the names of professors Albus Dumbledore, Severus Snape, Minerva McGonagall. And among the huge number of students of the School of Witchcraft and Witchcraft, the most famous, without a doubt, was Harry Potter - the boy who survived the attack of Voldemort.
So, Hogwarts… A thousand years ago, four powerful wizards combined their magical arts to create a school that could teach magic to children withmagical power. Godric Gryffindor, Penelope Hufflepuff, Candida Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin had no consensus on who could be enrolled in school and how to conduct lessons. They conferred and argued for a long time, but they could not agree on a single line of education. Therefore, they decided to create four completely different faculties, giving them their names. For each, those children were selected whose personal qualities each of the deans valued the most.
Years have passed. Now the children are selected by the Magic Hat: as soon as the future student puts it on his head, she proclaims which faculty he should be assigned to for the next seven years (namely, how long the training at this magic school lasts). But there were cases when the student did not agree with the opinion of the Hat and chose the faculty for himself.
What's in the tower?
The second tallest tower in Hogwarts is the Gryffindor Tower. The living room and bedrooms of the students are located here. Just like the astronomy tower, this building can be seen on the front side of the castle. Its windows overlook good Hagrid's hut and the Forbidden Forest.
Since the Gryffindor living room (the photo shows all the beauty of its decoration) is located in the tower of the same name, it is possible to enter it only through the passage that the four magicians planned to place on the seventh floor of the castle, behind the portrait of the Fat Lady (or she is also called Fat Lady) in a beautiful pink silk dress. The passage can be opened either by the Lady herself, or by some other portrait, which on this day becomesguardian of the passage (as it was in 1993).
In the same way as for entering other living rooms, there is a special password here. The Gryffindor common room can only be entered by naming it correctly. The portrait will simply swing open like an ordinary door and a round passage in the wall will open. According to the rules of the school, the elders learn this password first, and then they tell it to students of all faculties.
Entered - and froze at the threshold…
Now you can easily answer the question of where the Gryffindor common room is. Of course, in the Gryffindor tower! The living room is a rest room for students. It is a round cozy room, which is decorated in red and gold tones (these are the main colors of Gryffindor).
Here you can see soft chairs, a huge beautiful fireplace and tables for schoolchildren. The hearth is connected to the Fireplace Network, but due to the fact that the living room is an extremely public place: students are constantly engaged, communicating and fooling around here, right up to late at night, Gryffidors tend to use owls to communicate with their family, not a fireplace.
Magic bulletin board
The living room also has its own notice board, which constantly post the dates of the weekend in Hogsmeade, announcements of various events. Students use this booth to post private messages, such as recruiting for the Quidditch team or exchanging cards from the Chocolate Frogs.
One can only assume that all the Stands in the castle are connected in some way. After allthe educational decrees issued by interim headmaster Dolores Umbridge were inexplicably early in the morning appearing on the bulletin board in this living room. Meanwhile, she herself has never been here.
Those strange stairs
The Gryffindor common room is indeed a very beautiful and spacious room. Two staircases lead up from it, one of which leads to the girls' bedroom, and the second to the boys' bedroom. In the Harry Potter book, there is a mention that the stairs leading to the girls' bedroom are under a special spell, most likely Glisseo. If the boy takes at least a step up it to the bedroom, a kind of siren sounds, and the stairs turn into a slide. The one who is standing on the stairs at this moment cannot resist and slides down.
If you delve into the history of Hogwarts, it becomes clear that the founders of the wizarding school were convinced that girls deserve immeasurably more trust than boys. Therefore, they bewitched their stairs, and left the boys as they were. Since then, the former can enter the boys' rooms without any obstacles, for example, as Hermione always did, but the boys cannot enter them.
Each bedroom is a circular room with all student beds under canopies. There are fourteen such bedrooms in total: for each course, one bedroom for girls and one for boys. The windows of the bedrooms overlook the surroundings of Hogwarts.
Great place for holidays
Almost all the timeGryffindors in the living room celebrate some important event for them. According to the plot of this story, it was there that the victory of the team of the faculty in Quidditch was celebrated. They also congratulated the boy who survived on winning the first trial of the Triwizard Tournament. Yes, it was Harry Potter. The Gryffindor common room also accommodated everyone who wanted to see how the launch of the magical fireworks, invented by Fred and George Weasley, went.
For students, this living room is dear and as a place where important and significant events in their lives took place. For example, it was here that Harry's first kiss with Ginny Weasley, the sister of his friend Ron, took place, and the whole faculty saw it. Ron himself, in turn, also, in front of everyone, kissed Lavender Brown. Thanks to the fireplace located in this room, Harry's godfather - Sirius Black - was able to communicate with Potter and his friends, giving them useful advice. The Weasley twins could advertise their products here, sell it. All this was before they had their own store.
And finally…
Now that we already know where the Gryffindor common room is located, how you can get into it and what happens in it, you can say a few words about the students of this faculty. Exceptionally brave guys got here, because its founder, Godric Gryffindor, wanted it that way. The faculty is headed by the dean - a smart, strict and very kind professor Minerva McGonagall. Despite the seeming severity, she is a very fair sorceress. It was she who was with Professor Dumbledore when Hagrid brought little Harry(after the death of his parents) to his uncle and aunt.
The ghost of the House is Nearly Headless Nick, who can both scare outsiders and help Gryffindors. There are also two magical items associated with the founder of the faculty - the sorting hat (it was already mentioned earlier) and the sword of Gryffindor (it was he who helped Harry defeat the basilisk).
One more thing to mention. Since the book was very popular, the quest "Gryffindor Living Room" was invented - a game created based on books about a young wizard. In it, you must defeat the Death Eaters and, using the weapons that Godric himself created, save Hogwarts from destruction. Different people can participate in it, but players between the ages of 8 and 14 are allowed only with adults. And everything must be done in one hour.
