This actor's life was bright as a meteor flight, and, unfortunately, almost as short. Soviet moviegoers of the eighties immediately remembered him: impetuous, lean, with a piercing gaze and an expressive predatory face. After the "Crew", another name appeared in the short list of domestic sex symbols - Leonid Filatov. His filmography at that time already included half a dozen works, but after the first Soviet disaster film, bright, with an unrealistic plot, but quite lively characters, the artist became famous. Yet work in real art was ahead.
Kazan-Ashgabat
The boy, who was born in Kazan in 1946, had happiness, rare in the post-war years - his father was a front-line soldier. His mother's maiden name was the same as his father's, they are both Filatovs. This coincidence can be easily explained: during the war, the girls corresponded with unfamiliar soldiers of the Red Army, and when “sponsored” were distributed in the labor collective, she chose her namesake. After the Victory, the young people met in person and liked each other, as a result of which they appeared onthe light of their son, Leonid Filatov. The biography of the future actor is connected with two cities: Kazan, where he was born, and Ashgabat, where he spent almost all of his early childhood. Seven years later, the family, unfortunately, broke up, my mother took Lenya to Penza, but later the young man returned to Ashgabat. At the age of fifteen, he showed his literary talent by writing a fable published in Komsomolets Turkmenistan. The fee was small, but it was enough for modest gifts to relatives, several tickets to the theater and cinema, and even some amount remained, which the young man proudly gave to his grandmother for small expenses.
A penchant for art. Which one?
Interest in art Leonid was, as they say, in the blood. Later, in his mature years, he said that he did not dream of being an actor, he simply became one, because he did not see other ways to prove himself. Filatov did not see himself as a professional writer either, just as he did not see himself as a director. Something in his life did not come true, perhaps something unique that had not happened before. At the same time, in all guises, he managed to do something outstanding, showing an outstanding talent. While the search was on. Of particular interest was everything related to cinema (especially French), but both theater and literature were not alien to him.
Admission to the "Pike"
After high school in 1965, Leonid Filatov went to Moscow, intending to enter VGIK to become a director. This plan failed, for participation in the competition it was necessary to have an explication and a layout, and the applicant did not know about it (it is possible that at that moment he did not even know what it was).such). In addition, the deadline for submitting documents came out, and I had to enter the "Pike" (school named after Shchukin), which also turned out to be difficult, but crowned with success. The course was taught by L. N. Shikhmatova and V. K. Lvova, Ruslanova, Kaidanovsky and Dykhovichny became fellow students.
Student pranks…
Student life seemed like a carefree adventure, a roommate in the hostel Vova Kachan turned out to be a talented musician, and friends indulged in composing funny hooligan songs very popular among friends (about an orange cat, for example, or drunken gypsies). However, there were other pranks that seemed harmless, but one of them was not without consequences. Friends tied the handles of the doors located on opposite sides of the corridor on the women's floor of the hostel (they, of course, opened into the rooms), and then knocked on them. To the pleasure of the pranksters, a terrible squeal rose, and everything would have worked out if it weren’t for the fact that one of the students who was subjected to a draw turned out to be a foreigner (from Bulgaria), who, moreover, was in a position called for some reason “interesting”. Someone “stuck”, as a result, listeners Boris Galkin, Vladimir Kachan and Leonid Filatov lost their cheap housing. They had to rent an apartment on Herzen Street, it was expensive, but no one could stop them here.
…and talented pranks
There were pranks in which the writer's talent was guessed. Rector Boris Zakhava himself believed that the play presented to him by the students was written by Arthur Miller, and evenapproved of their good choice. When it turned out that this was not true, and the author was Leonid Filatov, he could not hide his resentment for being so cleverly tricked. In general, signing his works with exotic names (La Biche, Cesare Javatini, etc.) was characteristic of a young actor trying a pen. The atmosphere of creative freedom that reigned in the school was in perfect harmony with the internal state of the student, he could easily skip an uninteresting lecture, preferring to visit some famous private film screening or exhibition.
Theatre
1969 There is a "second call" to the famous Taganskaya troupe five years after the theater was founded. Lyubimov, whom almost the entire Soviet intelligentsia considers a genius, wants to join the acting team. As a result, Ivan Dykhovichny, Vitaly Shapovalov, Boris Galkin, Natalia Saiko, Alexander Porohovshchikov and Leonid Filatov get into the troupe. The biography of these artists is now forever associated with the cult Taganka Theatre.
Filatov and Raikin
Just then a very tempting offer came from Leningrad. Konstantin Raikin, who also studied at the Shchukin School, showed his famous father a play - a thesis written by Filatov, and she made an impression. Arkady Isaakovich often experienced a shortage of creative personnel, he needed talented texts, and during this period Roman Kartsev, Viktor Ilchenko and Mikhail Zhvanetsky were going to leave him, dissatisfied with the working conditions, so he was going to invite Leonid Filatov to his theater. Despite the obvious attractiveness of the proposal and the presence on themeeting Lev Kassil, the classic of Soviet satire was refused. The main role in the play "What to do?" interested Filatov more than living space in Leningrad and many other benefits promised by Raikin.
School of humanity
The biography of Leonid Filatov was rich in meetings with interesting people. At Taganka, he met Vysotsky, Schnittke, Okudzhava, Parajanov, Akhmadullina and many others, who became moral guidelines for millions of Soviet citizens. The friendship of talents spurred creative initiative, the best human qualities, such as civil courage and inner freedom, were manifested here, and betrayal and cowardice were openly despised. Actor Leonid Filatov learned the ability to regret, the ability to forgive in this wonderful theater, which became for him a kind of university of true nobility and, of course, acting.
Wives
Lidia Savchenko, a colleague in the creative workshop, became the first wife of the actor. In the late seventies, Leonid Filatov fell passionately in love with Nina Shatskaya, who was then Zolotukhin's wife. They resisted this feeling for a long time, not wanting to injure their spouses, but in the end love took its toll. After divorcing, they started their family in 1982. Over the years, Shatskaya completely refuted the opinion of beautiful actresses as eccentric and windy creatures: having endured many difficulties, she remained faithful to her chosen one in the most tragic moments of her life.
Film roles
As in “The Crew”, where Mitt was going to invite Dahl to play the role of the hero-lover, Leonid Filatov was also not supposed to star in “The Chosen Ones”, according to the original plan. These films cannot be called the best works of the actor, but it was thanks to them that he became known to the mass audience. The first truly creative success in cinema was the role of a theater director in Success. The theme turned out to be close to the lead actor and the entire film crew, which consisted of actors from the Russian theater school. This was followed by interesting work in other wonderful paintings. The characters were not always positive, but few could give their anti-heroes as much charm as Leonid Filatov. The filmography of the artist is such that one can study the chronicle of the era of late socialism by its lines. "Rooks", "City Zero", "Forgotten Melody for Flute" and many other films were extremely successful in the cinemas of a huge country, and even today, having started watching any of these masterpieces, it is difficult to take your eyes off the TV screen.
Taganka-hooligan
From 1985 to 1987, Leonid Filatov served in Galina Volchek's Sovremennik. Yuri Lyubimov had a conflict with the authorities, he was deprived of Soviet citizenship, Efros was appointed director of the Taganka Theater, whom the troupe disliked, quite possibly undeservedly. The conflict between the team and the leader was extremely aggressive, Filatov also took part in it, although not as actively as many other actors. Nevertheless, he left the theater. When returnedLyubimov, Efros had already died, and Filatov was the only one who repented of persecuting this very good person. Then the theater split again, he was offered to lead the "troupe in exile", called the "Commonwe alth of Taganka Actors", but the actor refused.
The fairy tale is a lie, but there is a hint in it…
"The Tale of Fedot the Sagittarius, a daring fellow" was literally pulled apart by people into quotes immediately after its publication in Yunost. Biting, capacious, expressive, funny and always topical - this is how you can determine the merits of this literary work by Leonid Filatov. “It turns out that I have all the politics in the country on me”, “Tea is not some kind of chemistry, tea is natural gifts …”, “I smear a sandwich in the morning …” and many other lines of this immortal poem have forever become sayings and proverbs, enriching our Russian language. Peru Filatov owns many poems, some of them in the author's performance are known from television programs. In 1999, a wonderful book "The Theater of Leonid Filatov" was published, which included all the most significant of what he wrote: plays, parodies, lyrics, and of course "Fedot".
Don't be discouraged without me, water the ficus more often…
Already in the eighties, the he alth of the actor was weak. Heart problems, high blood pressure and other troubles caused a desire to have time to do as much as possible, and consequently, an even more merciless attitude towards oneself. Saving the actor from hypertension, doctors prescribed a drug that had a harmful effect on the kidneys, which had to be removed in 1999. The stroke was suffered on the legs.
Leonid Filatov made the last feat, hecreated a series of TV shows "To Remember", dedicated to the departed actors. Their fates were tragic, almost all of them. It was difficult for him to talk about them. And in the moral sense, and in the physical too.
After a kidney transplant, any infection or cold threatened the most terrible disaster. In 2003, the day came when it happened.
This man cannot be forgotten. These need to be remembered.

The surname Tolstoy in our view is closely associated with literary creativity, and this is no coincidence. The works written by them are not connected in any way, but the authors themselves are united by blood relationship, albeit a distant one
