"With Fire and Sword" is a film of Polish origin. The historical epic consists of four fascinating and very exciting episodes. The plot is based on the novel of the same name written by Henryk Sienkiewicz. What this picture is about, who starred in it and how the shooting took place, is described in this article.
Storyline
The events unfolding in the film date back to the 17th century. In the center of the plot is a terrible quarrel between Pan Chaplinsky and Bohdan Khmelnitsky. The reason for the enmity was the fact that the pan had ruined the son of Colonel Khmelnitsky to death. As a result, the colonel calls on the entire Zaporozhian Sich, together with the Crimean Tatars, to attack the army of King Vladislav. The attack is led by Tugan Bey and is crowned with success. In addition to bloody pictures of a terrible war, the film shows the love story of Ataman Bohun and a Polish beauty.
Actors of "Fire and Sword"
Famous talented and charismatic actors worked in the project. Here is a list of the main characters' actors:
- Isabella Skorupko - played the rolenoblewoman Elena Kurtsevich. The girl managed to create an image of the heroine even deeper than it was intended by the script.
- Michal Zhebrovsky - he got the role of Lieutenant Jan Skshetuski. The actor perfectly conveyed the image of an ideal person.
- Alexander Domogarov - played the Cossack colonel Yurko Bohun in the film. This character is most loved by the viewer in the image of a worthy person with a difficult fate.
- Bogdan Stupka is the formidable Zaporizhian ataman Bogdan Khmelnitsky, one of the brightest characters.
- Andrzej Severin - the fatal handsome man and the true prince Yarema Vishnevetsky.
The actors of "Fire and Sword" are also Viktor Zborovsky, Eva Vishnevskaya, Ruslana Pysanka, Marek Kondrat and others. According to the feedback from the audience, the film went with a bang.
Interesting facts from filming
A few curious features from the filming:
- Polish infantrymen are seen fighting with Mosin rifles in the third episode.
- The final song of the picture was a composition by an unknown Polish-Ukrainian poet called "Gay, falcons".
- In one of the scenes, the song "Nalivaimo, brother" is performed. This is the most striking anachronism of the film, since the composition appeared in 1960, and the film tells about the events of the 17th century.
There are also moments when the viewer can replace some inconsistencies in episodes. So, at one point, Skshetuski is wearing a hat, and a minute later it is gone. But these are only minor shortcomings, the film turned out to be exciting andeducational.
