The first Stargate movie premiered back in 1994, and since then, several different movies and series have been released over the next ten years. During this period, many sharp turns took place in the plot, and it is not always clear to the viewer how to watch and what viewing chronology to choose.
Stargate Chronological Order
You can start watching the franchise according to the chronology of the appearance of plot pictures on the screens:
- Stargate (1994) - original motion picture.
- Series "SG: SG-1" from season 1 to 7 (1997-2004).
- SG-1 Season 8 & SG-Atlantis Season 1 (2004-2005 - release date).
- SG-1 and Atlantis, seasons 9 and 2 respectively (2005-2006).
- SW: SG-1 and SG: Atlantis Season Ten and Third (2006-2007).
- 2008 Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Atlantis Season 4 (2007-2008).
- 2008 Stargate Continuum movie andseries "Star Wars: Atlantis" fifth final season (2008-2009).
- Series "STAR: Universe" seasons 1 and 2.
Adhering to this viewing order, the viewer will not get confused by the events that took place in the universe.
As you can see, SD-1 and "Atlantis" are shown simultaneously in chronological order at some points. Viewing can take place either one episode from each specified season, alternating sequentially, or initially devote time to SG-1, and then completely revise "Atlantis".
Other sequence options
Another equally popular order of watching the Stargate series is to initially start with the 1995 Stargate movie that started it all, then watch the SG-1 series in its entirety. Then the next two films according to the date of their release "ST: The Ark of Truth" and "ST: Time Continuum", and at the end of the TV series "ST: Atlantis" and "ST: Universe". This order is the most understandable and simple, then the viewer alternately looks through the events in the universe.
Which version should I choose?
It is worth noting that no matter what choice is made, it is always worth starting with the first film of the 94th year, and finishing with the series "Star Wars: Universe". SG-1 and Atlantis are closely interconnected series and one series of the first is literally an explanation or continuation of anotherseries from the second, because Atlantis was born from the storyline of its predecessor. The same cannot be said about the "Universe", because this is a new, completely different storyline and a new universe, although it is implemented in the spirit of the previous parts, but the characters in it are new.
So the most appropriate, in terms of series, is the order in which Stargate is watched chronologically.
