Svetlana Ulasevich hasn't written many books, but she is already well known to many lovers of fantasy romance. It is recommended for light reading in the evening by the fireplace, as a way to dispel sadness on long autumn evenings. But even among fans of the genre, there are many who do not consider Ulasevich's works worthy of attention.

Svetlana Ulasevich: books

  1. The Dragon Saga trilogy. A series of humorous love-fantasy novels.
  2. "You". A short mystical love story.
  3. "The price of an empire". Collected stories co-authoredwith A. Glushanovsky.
  4. The writer has many unpublished stories, miniatures, essays and poems.

"The Dragon Saga" in paper form appeared thanks to the publishing house "Alpha-book" - the works were printed from 2009 to 2014, as each part was written.

The Price of Empire was also published in 2014

In February-March 2017, the trilogy is expected to be re-released as a single volume called "Don't Wake the Sleeping Dragon". The text will be reworked.

Co-authorship

The book "The Price of Empire" was written jointly with Alexei Glushanovsky (the most famous work is the tetralogy "The Way of the Demon"). This is a cycle of novels and stories that the authors wrote on their own, but there are also several joint works. It must be said that a lot was expected from the tandem, especially from Glushanovsky - he seemed to many readers a more mature and experienced writer.

As a result, it turned out to be very average, adjusted for the level of both authors, but in general, many believe that Svetlana Ulasevich did much better. Maybe because they didn't make excessive demands on her?

Stories and short stories are diverse in style, and it is difficult to classify them as one genre, but they are united by a common idea - the confrontation of different principles. In general, they are quite worth reading, although they turned out to be somewhat gloomy.

To read or not to read?

The question is debatable. Svetlana Ulasevich tried to make her works humorous and with an exciting plot, as well as an obligatory love story.line. What came of it? Let's take a look at her most ambitious work - "The Dragon Saga". We will not retell the plot, it is quite common for all books of this genre, and there is nothing wrong with that. In fact, the target audience for which such things are designed may be very negative about free deviations from the canons.

There is nothing wrong with a fair amount of humor: it greatly reduces the degree of "pink snot" that can reduce a romance to a very sweet love story.

Many readers also welcome some mockery of the genre - the heroine is not an ideal beauty, but quite a standard girl with a cheerful disposition. And some books cannot do without a sensual component - it gives depth to the love line.

But what you definitely shouldn't do is turn your characters into sex-crazed maniacs. Consciously or not, but Svetlana Ulasevich seriously missed here - you don’t expect this from fantasy, and for a sensual love story there is too little eroticism, and the genre is not declared that way. In fairness, it should be noted that there are no too explicit scenes in the book - just the actions of the characters, their thoughts and dialogues revolve around sex, and this is frankly annoying.

Separately, I would like to say about the main male characters - in books of a similar orientation, the author usually creates such a character that every reader wants to fall in love with him, but this does not happen here. Idealized appearance, but unpleasant personality traits. All in all,by.

Summary: the books are not frankly bad - there is a good plot, some idea, the logic of the story, so the novel can captivate. But don't get too empathetic with the characters or look for a hidden meaning, otherwise you can be very disappointed.
