The theater on Yugo-Zapadnaya has existed since 1977. It was created by director Valery Belyakovich. The theater is located in Moscow, on Vernadsky Avenue. It was named after the closest metro station to it.
History of the theater
The theater on Yugo-Zapadnaya played its first performance in 1974. It was N. V. Gogol's "Marriage". Sergei Belyakovich (brother of the founder of the theater) and the famous actor Viktor Avilov played in the production. The first performance was played in a club near Moscow. Then the artists began to perform in the library building, where Valery Belyakovich worked as the head.
The official opening year of the theater is 1977. Since it was then that the artists got their premises on Vernadsky Avenue.
The theater (South-West metro station) has repeatedly staged banned plays. For which once it was even closed for several months.
In 1986, the troupe went on tour for the first time. Since then, trips have become regular.
In 1985, the theater received the title of people's theater. And in 1991 - the status of the state.

Premier
The theater (m. "South-West") this season presents the premiere of the play "The Picture of Dorian Gray" based on the novel by Oscar Wilde. This is a cruel fairy tale for adults with a duration of three hours. The story of Dorian Gray tells the viewer about real beauty, about the soul and about forgiveness. This performance is an experiment, a new vision of the work. The production is more plastic than dramatic, since the most important events in Dorian's life are told through dance. D. Gray acts either as a toy in the hands of higher powers, or as a person who leads society to disintegration.
Artistic Director
The theater on Yugo-Zapadnaya since 2011 has been living under the strict guidance of the actor O. N. Leushin. Oleg Nikolayevich graduated from the Sverdlovsk Theater Institute in 1991. Since 1992, he has been working as an actor in the troupe of the theater on Yugo-Zapadnaya.
Oleg Nikolaevich is a brilliant artist. He can play comedy, tragedy, and a fairy tale. His characters make the viewer constantly doubt. And not only in complex things, but also in the simplest ones. In love, truth and its incomprehensibility, in the reality of life. Also, Oleg Nikolayevich himself makes one doubt the usual ideas about acting. The technique of his work is filigree. At the same time, no one can say that O. Leushin works only for her. He plays his characters in such a way that it seems as if he himself looks likethem. But, despite this, it is impossible to find a role that is created on the principle of "I am in the circumstances." Every detail of his images is thought out to the smallest detail. Everything matters here: the lines of makeup applied to the face, and every casual glance.
Leushin for more than twenty years of artistic activity has played a large number of major roles.
Among his works are the following performances:
- "Accordions".
- The Picture of Dorian Gray.
- "Dolls".
- “People and gentlemen.”
- "The Master and Margarita".
- "Seagull".
- "Marriage".
- "Suicide".
- "Dragon".
- "Servant of two masters".
- "Old Sins".
- "Dolls".
- The Threepenny Opera.
- Macbeth.
- Romeo and Juliet.
- "At the Ark at eight."
- "Death" and many others.
Oleg Nikolaevich released several productions, where he acted as a director. Among them:
- "Love and doves".
- "Treasure Hunt"
- “People and gentlemen.”
- The Picture of Dorian Gray and others
Oleg Leushin starred in films and TV shows:
- "Troubled Area".
- "Sklifosovsky".
- "Love contrary".
- "Bodyguard 2".
- "Zemsky doctor".
- "New Year's ambush".
- "Goodbye Dr. Freud".
- "You can't forget to love".
- "Servant of the Sovereigns".
- "Moscow. Threestation".
- "Alexander Garden".
- "Always say always".
- "Notes of the Forwarder of the Secret Office".
- "Russians in the city of angels".
- "Law &Order".
- "Code of Honor".

The characters played by O. N. Leushin were awarded. The year 1990 brought the artist an award at a festival held among theater schools in the city of Smolensk. Was awarded his episodic role in the production of "Rhino". In 2000, Oleg Nikolaevich received an award from the editorial board of the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper. He was awarded such an award for his performance in the production of "Caligula".
In 2003, Oleg Nikolaevich Leushin was awarded the honorary title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.
